It trended more when Aubameyang showed the iconic impersonation when he scored against Valencia in the Europa leauge(getting the original character himself would have aided arsenal in Baku) also this is one superhero movie a black dude wasn’t killed by a white dude and I like it.

Even before Marvel started talking officially about the MCU’s Phase Four, given the reaction to the first movie, boss Kevin Feige said a Black Panther sequel is “absolutely” going to happen(wonder who will be clarmouring for the throne this time)”I have nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that,” was all Feige could say.

The film broke records for the superhero genre, landed a historic Golden Globes nomination (although it didn’t win) and made Oscar history at the 2019 Academy Awards( just like the Avengers it didn’t win an Oscar despite all the raves) despite that, it didn’t hold Feige back when he confirmed that Black Panther 2 was happening at Comic-Con.

So, that takes us to what we would expect about the upcoming return of the King of Wakanda and why we feel the movie does need a sequel(I mean Alvin and the chipmunks had a sequel and it wasn’t even a superhero movie)

Black Panther 2 The Release Date: When can we expect it?

Not anytime in 2021!

From Marvel Studios we get know that Ryan Coogler( I don’t even know who this guy is) is attached to write and direct Black Panther 2 with an eye to start shooting the sequel with the original creative team in either late 2019 or early 2020. After the game-changing success of the first one, why wouldn’t he?

However, with release dates seemingly mapped out for the MCU through to the end of 2021, it could well be that we’ll have to wait until 2022 (that’s quiet a long time) at the earliest to see the sequel. Marvel has three slots for that year: February 18, May 6 and July 29.

The February slot looks the best fit for Black Panther 2, given how well the first movie did in that position( I felt Valentine trended in February)

Marvel doesn’t want to hurry things, though making sure the second outing is as good as the first(for a lengthy release date as this, it has to be better than the first installment) and Coogler has spoken about feeling the pressure around it.

Black Panther 2 The Plot: What Should we be expecting?

Major major spoiler yet. Its still early days for the Black Panther sequel so it has no concrete plot( But it is always going to be a bad guy trying to do something crazy and he gets defeated by the claw people) it

Nevertheless, fans have been speculating what’s next for the warriors of Wakanda(like I said bad guy….. Something crazy to mess up humanity….. Claw people defeating him)

Previous Plot.. Let’s Recap!!!

In the first flick, it was Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa who was eventually crowned as ruler and protector of Wakanda after fighting off competition from Michael B Jordan’s Erik Killmonger and Winston Duke’s M’Baku.

So for the next round, rumour has it(reminds me Adele’s song) that one of the ideas put forward for the script involves Wakanda under attack yet again(I told you…..Bad Guy/Crazy Plan) with either Namor or Princess Zanda being the antagonist who’s looking to take over( Honestly…. This is why I don’t like rumours) this time.

This is all just speculation, of course, but it would certainly fit in line with the theory doing the rounds that Namor (AKA Marvel’s version of Aquaman) is set to make his MCU debut after he was alluded to in Endgame (Can’t remember a character like that) Black

Panther 2 The Villain: Could Killmonger return?

Audiences aren’t usually supposed to root for the bad guy, but Erik ‘Killmonger’ Stevens wasn’t a typical antagonist and he finally solved Marvel’s pesky ‘villain problem’. No wonder Jordan scooped a Best Villain trophy at the MTV Movie & TV Awards( I always knew being a bad guy pays)

It’s unlikely he could return, but you never know in the superhero world, and all Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige will say for now is that it’s too early to say and “nothing is set yet in any way that far”.

It’s not a no( Like I said rumour…. We all know he is dead)

Black Panther 2 Who Joins The Cast:

Who’s coming back and who is been added?

From Marvel Studios it does turn out that the cast of Black Panther arguably matched (and stole the show) from title character T’Challa, so we expect most of those featured in the first film to return.

These includes Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther), Winston Duke-M’Baku(Won’t be surprised if he switches camp again) Letitia Wright (Shuri), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Martin Freeman (CIA agent Everett K Ross), Daniel Kaluuya (W’Kabi), and Angela Bassett (Ramonda, T’Challa’s mother).

T’Challa’s tech-wizard sis Shuri has also become the Black Panther in the comic books and given her incredible reception from both fans and critics alike, would be an obvious contender further down the line.

Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, even told MCM London Comic Con that she’d be happy to step in for her brother, “to be comic-book accurate”.

As discussed above, Michael B Jordan’s intense and troubled villain Erik Killmonger could also be in for a return( Now this is where the rumour or maybe the story itself gets a bit annoying despite dying at the end of the first film( Dead men stay dead….This is not Pirates of the Carreibien)

However, Jordan did reveal to MTV that despite the whole therapy thing{Seems like he got possessed} he would love to reprise the role of Killmonger, so perhaps something more subtle is in order: “

If there was ever an opportunity for me to come back and join this universe and work with like Joe Russo, Kevin Feige, Victoria [Alonso], and everybody over there at Marvel…”

However, there is one way to bring Jordan back that doesn’t include flashbacks(Now its getting complicating) When Killmonger initially defeated T’Challa in a trial by combat, he ingested the heart-shaped herb and gained the strength of the Black Panther. That ritual should have formed a spiritual connection with the realm of Bast(likely we might see two black dudes try to kill themselves again)

We don’t know exactly how this part of the Wakandan afterlife works, but the spirits of T’Challa’s ancestors dwell there after death, imparting wisdom to whoever next inherits the Black Panther mantle.

It would make sense if Killmonger’s spirit also wound up residing in the realm of Bast, as he has ingested the same herb as everyone else who’s wielded the power of the Black Panther

More so, Grammy Award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has revealed he’s also eyeing up a role in the film’s sequel. It turns out Michael B Jordan’s character has been a big influence(The bad guys are now mentors)

With no finished script to speak of and therefore no production date (but with plenty of rumours) there’s also no trailer yet to watch.

So we look forward to Black Panther in 2022(So sorry I had to raise your hopes) but do expect a trailer release come 2021( Its still something to cheer about.. Dont you think?)

What do you think, is Black Panther really worth a sequel?
